About Michael
Prince
For over 17 years, Michael Prince has searched for the perfect intersection between all genres of music and has experimented with how they interact with one another. He not only considers himself a classical violinist, but also a jazz, hip-hop, pop, and r&b violinist. He currently records, produces, and performs on stages across the country, bringing awareness to an instrument that is often neglected in popular music. In May of 2023, Michael Prince graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance.
Throughout the years, Michael Prince has collaborated with and has studied under numerous Grammy award winning artists and teachers including Robert Glasper, Jason Moran, and Mariana Simpson. He currently produces and performs with LaRussell, a hip-hop artist in the San Francisco area. His string arrangements have been featured in work by up-and-coming artists Montell Fish and D’ Ville. Michael has performed on a variety of stages, including Lincoln Center, Jones Hall, The Empress Theater, The Pergola, and the Hobby Center.
